The recurring news of inequality has been a problem since our founding fathers wrote the Declaration of Independence. I chose Dan Ariely's TED Talk on equality because it really ties into our theme of American Values that we w discovered last week. In an independent journal, I wrote that equality was an American Value that really defined America. Equality is right that was granted to us in the Constitution of the United States and is a right that all American citizens have. I feel as if we take this special right for granted, there are equality differences far worse in developing countries than in the United States. Now even though the Constitution says all men are equal, things have changed over the years, and the equality gap is increasing slowly. Over the past few years, there have been problems with equality all over the world, and in America, its either with men and women, or the wealthy and the poor, or even racial differences. First, it was the right for women to vote, then it was very everyone of color to vote, and just a few months ago, people could get married to anyone they wanted. Although, Ariely mainly describes the inequalities between social classes in his TED Talk, I feel as if America has an inequality problem with something much more. America has come a long way, but we as a country, still have a lot of work to do.
I do agree, somewhat, with Dan Ariely's arguments about equality that he presented in his TED Talk, but I feel like he missed a lot. He mainly stuck with the inequality gap between the rich and the poor, and I just feel as if America has more problems with inequality besides that.
