Mike Rowe's Ted Talk, "Learning from Dirty Jobs" ties into our reading for this unit, "Working in the Shadows". Rowe discussed that people who do dirty jobs, such as farming and sheep castration are more happier with their lives. Rowe's theory is quite difference in the ever so famous play, "Death of a Salesman", Willie was definitely not happy with his job, and his unhappiness killed him Rowe asked the question of "Follow your Passion" is reliable career advice to give. Rowe's theory on war on work changed the meaning of labor and lessened the value of labor. "Dirty Jobs" provide food and clothes for people all over the world, and the workers barely get paid. Gabriel Thompson's "Working in the shadows provided that same explanation of how workers who provide such common resources are underpaid.
I agree with Rowe's theory that people are more happier with their "Dirty Jobs" because if they were unhappy, they could just leave their underpaying job for a better one.
