Poet, Clint Smith's Ted Talk described the "dangers of silence" and how important it is to speak out for what you believe in. Smith's Talk was similar to what we have been discussing in class about the Beat Poets and the Transcendentalists. It is important to speak up and let your voice be heard in order to make a difference in the world. We are always taught to be silent, that sometimes we forget that we actually have a voice, and that we can actually use our voices to get the attention of others. Whenever I think of the Beat Movement, the "Black Lives Matter" movement always comes to mind, we will never seek attention and justice, if we never speak up. So, yes silence is dangerous, silence could cause the lives of others, it could never change the world and never make it a better place. Speaking up is important, and that is exactly what the Beat Poets and the Transcendentalists did, they had an idea, and they spoke out on it, and their ideas make up for many of the rights we have as Americans to this very day.
I agree with Clint Smith's Ted Talk. Silence is dangerous and harmful. Having your voice be heard is quite important because if you do not speak up, you will never be heard.
